St. Thomas Episcopal Church – Sun Valley, ID
The purpose of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church nursery is to offer loving care
to children, ages infant through 4th birthday, in order that their parents or guardians may attend services of worship, classes, and may participate more fully in the life of the parish.
The nursery opens at 9:15 am and remains open through the conclusion of our 9:30am service. Parents or guardians are expected to pick up their children immediately following the service, program, or event. If you would like your child to join you at the Eucharist, you may pick up your child when you are ready to go forward for communion.
Parish-wide events and special church services:
To support family participation in the life of the parish, the nursery is open for all major parish events and parish-wide special services; If you have a question about whether the nursery will be open for a specific parish event, you are encouraged to call the Director of Children and Family Ministry, Jessica Bejot.
The nursery is located in the back of the sanctuary in the room beneath the choir/organ loft. You can enter the nursery on the south side of the room, through the door.
Our paid staff is certified in the Safeguarding God’s Children training required by the Diocese.
ST. THOMAS ADHERES TO THE FOLLOWING POLICIES:
It is important that every parent or guardian bringing a child to the nursery check in with the nursery staff on duty.
Parents or guardians need to alert nursery staff to any special medical concerns and/or allergies.
Parents or guardians should label all items left in the nursery with the child’s name. This includes bottles, blankets, pacifiers, sippy cups or other items which might be taken from a diaper bag during the stay. We cannot be responsible for unmarked items.
There will always be one staff person working in the nursery with the children.
Parents or guardians should not bring their child to the nursery if the child has had, or currently has, the following: diarrhea, vomiting or a fever in the past 24 hours, green discharge from the eyes or nose, or an undiagnosed rash.
St. Thomas requires that parents or guardians remain on the St. Thomas campus while their children are in the nursery.
No child may leave the nursery area until the parent or guardian comes to collect him/her.
Parents or guardians should make certain all personal items have been returned to them before leaving the nursery. Lost and found items will be retained for a short time.
Toys and furniture are washed and disinfected at the end of each group of children in the nursery. Monthly our toys are inspected for cracks or damage that could be harmful.
Parents or guardians who are currently nursing an infant are welcome to utilize the nursery for this purpose if it would be helpful.
For the stability of the children, the nursery is staffed by several primary caregivers. Any questions or concerns about the performance of their duties should NOT be directed to the caregiver, but to Jessica Bejot, Director of Children and Family Ministry, 208-726-5349 x 21, email@example.com
